CHRISTMAS IN OUR TOWN

Fond memories serve me as changes abound,
and snowy-white flurries now cover the ground.

Thanksgiving dinner we finished in haste,
stuffing ourselves with turkeys we’d baste.

Decorations were strung across our main street,
warm greetings, best wishes from each one we’d meet.

Soon cherished loved-ones would all gather round,
renewing old friendships they’d made in our town.

Houses were well lit with lights all aglow,
and hung over doorways you’d find mistletoe.

Trees in windows were beautifully shaped,
shining most glorious with ornaments draped.

Children excited, and full of much laughter,
would treasure those moments to last ever after.

On Eve of Christmas, they’d surely not sleep,
awaiting old Santa down chimney to creep.

Fun, joy, and pleasure would be ours again,
celebrating the birth of the One without sin.

We welcomed that time and always remember,
why we return home the month of December.

Christmas Lights on Tree

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS UNDER THE SNOW

I see them warm and glowing
tho’ covered with snow in the night…
red and yellow, green and blue—
those glorious Christmas lights.

Lights strung along our fence line,
on roof top, bushes, and trees—
tho’ muted by storms in the darkness,
they shine bright in the heart of me.

So keep the Christmas lights burning
for folks who may pass by,
reminding them of the holiday
celebrating the One on high.

Florescent in beautiful colors—
reminiscent of that day
when Christ was born our Savior
to wash our sins away.
